Thermal lens effect measurement and improvement of laser application

When the thermal lens effect is produced, the optical element is heated and expanded, and the focusing ability becomes stronger, the focal spot size becomes smaller, and the focal length and the focal length become shorter. The result of these phenomena will result in unstable marking and effect of marking. The influence of thermal lens effect is analyzed by several typical applications of pulse fiber laser:


1. Aluminum oxide blackening:
When the thermal lens effect occurs, the focal length becomes shorter, the energy density of the material surface is reduced, the alumina is not black, and there is an inconsistency between the center and the edge effect.


2. Metal deep carving:
Metal deep carvings are usually used in short field mirrors, and when high power is carved, the energy density of the material decreases rapidly due to the thermal lens effect. Because the center of the optical element is bigger than the edge, the center is shallow and the depth is not consistent.


3. Wafer cutting:
According to different materials, pulse fiber laser cutting slices usually adopt single or multiple fast. Thermal expansion and cooling shrinkage can occur in a very short time (< 1S), so the starting position can be cut when cutting, and no material can be cut in other positions.


4. Sheet metal welding:
For high power pulsed fiber laser welding metal sheet (< 0.6mm), circular helix is usually used for welding. The thermal lens effect will cause the solder size to be inconsistent and the drawing force is not enough.
